Become a Volunteer in Ministry at St. Mary's.
We need children, youth and adults of all ages from our parish to participate in the many ministries of St. Mary's Parish! There is something for everyone!
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion minister both bread and wine to the faithful at Mass. Opportunities to bring the Eucharist to persons in their homes, nursing homes and hospital are also available. You must be Confirmed to participate in this ministry. Training and Commissioning are also necessary.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God at weekday, weekend, holy day, and special liturgical celebratons. Training is provided.
Music Ministry needs cantors, choir members, and instrumentalists.
- Cantors lead the assembly in sung prayer.
- Choir Members sing at special liturgies during the year.
- Instrumentalists accompany the cantor. All types of instruments are encouraged.
Greeters or Hospitality Ministers help to set the tone of welcome to our celebration, greeting those who enter, perhaps even holding a door open. They can assist in taking up the collection, bringing up the offertory gifts or tidying up the pews in preparation for Mass. Children, families and youth/adult are welcome.
Altar Servers assist the presider throughout our liturgical celebrations. Both girls and boys, grade 5 through high school and college, are invited to participate in this ministry. Adult Altar Servers assist at weekday Masses throughout the school year.
Sacristansassist with the preparation for each Sunday and weekday liturgy. Sacristans tend to the numerous details that need attention before and during Mass.
Evangelization Team assists the Pastor in establishing programs to promote Stewardship, Vocations, Welcome and Parish Communication.
Vocations Ministry focuses on our commitment to foster a culture of vocations.
Precious Blood Companions support Precious Blood spirituality by meeting monthly in faith sharing and prayer.
Environmental & Maintenance Ministries
Vigil Lights and Holy Water Font Ministers clean and refill the candle stands and fonts weekly.
Collection Counters count and deposit the Sunday collection each Sunday morning for a term of one month each year.
Parish Council assists and supports the pastor in pastoral decisions and direction.
Finance Council along with the pastor oversees matters of financial planning and budgeting.
Building and Grounds Committee helps to oversee the maintainance of parish grounds.
Altar and Rosary Society
Officers are responsible for maintaining the business and overseeing the projects of the Altar and Rosary Society. These projects include the Annual Election Day Dinner, Funeral Dinner Ministry, Scholarship Program, and other special events as needed.
Monthly Chairpersons plan and secure volunteer help and food donations as needed for the events that the parish and the Altar and Rosary sponsor during the month to which they are assigned.
Monthly Committee Members provide volunteer help and food donations to funeral dinners and for Parish and Altar and Rosary events during the month in which they are assigned. Each lady of the parish is a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and are automatically assigned to a month during each year.
Funeral Dinner Chairpersons plan and supervise funeral dinners as needed. The term of ministry is a 3 month period. The Funeral Dinner Ministry is a way that our parish family offers support and love to a grieving family during their time of sorrow.
